You’re in good company. You won’t need to know how to pose. We guide you through small adjustments, keep the conversation going, and review images together so you can see what’s working.
Which session should I choose?
Essential is a focused profile update. Signature gives you more time and variety. Executive adds a broader collection for leadership and personal branding. ERAS is tailored to residency application photographs, and team sessions bring a consistent look to your office. Compare the packages or use the session finder.
What should I wear?
Choose clothes that fit well and feel like you. Solid colors and simple layers help keep attention on your face. Bring the number of outfits included in your package, plus a backup, and consider how formal your industry and intended use should feel.
Can I wear glasses?
Absolutely. If you normally wear glasses, bring them. We can adjust the lighting and your position to manage reflections. Clean the lenses before your session and bring a second pair if you would like another option.
Is hair and makeup included?
Hair and makeup services are not included in the packages. Arrive with your preferred everyday professional look and bring any products you use for quick touch-ups.
Where will my session take place?
RiverNorth Headshots is preparing to serve downtown Chicago by appointment. Individual session locations will be confirmed before booking. Team sessions are planned at your office, subject to space and access requirements.
Your photographs
How long does a session take?
Essential and ERAS include 20 minutes of photography, Signature includes 45 minutes, and Executive includes 75 minutes. Team schedules depend on headcount and office access. Allow a little extra time for arrival and preparation.
Can I choose a background?
We will discuss the intended use and available backgrounds before your session. Essential and ERAS include one background; Signature includes up to two and Executive up to three. Teams use one coordinated background for a consistent result.
What does retouching include?
Natural adjustments to color and light, temporary blemishes, stray hairs, and minor distractions. We preserve skin texture and the features that make you recognizable. Extensive changes or composites require a separate discussion.
Do I get every photo from the session?
Your package includes a collection of color and exposure corrected images: 25 with Essential, 50 with Signature, 80 with Executive, 20 with ERAS, or 15 per person for teams. These receive adjustments to color, brightness, contrast, and saturation. You also receive your included retouched selections: 2 with Essential, 4 with Signature, 8 with Executive, 2 with ERAS, or one per person for teams. The package does not include every photo taken during the session, unselected proofs, or RAW files. Additional retouched images are available through the packages page.
When will I receive my photographs?
The standard turnaround is 3 business days for individual and ERAS sessions, or 5 business days for teams, after final image selections and full payment. If you have an application or publication deadline, confirm timing before booking.
Where can I use my headshots?
Finished images include high-resolution files and web crops for your professional self-promotion, such as LinkedIn, company biographies, personal websites, and speaking materials. Discuss any additional licensing needs before the session.
ERAS, teams & booking
Do you provide an ERAS application file?
Yes. The ERAS package includes an application export of your chosen portrait alongside the high-resolution images. AAMC currently lists photo limits of 2.5 × 3.5 inches, 150 dpi, and 150 KB. We will check the current requirements when preparing your file. Follow your school’s upload instructions and each program’s requirements. See AAMC photo guidance.
Can you photograph everyone at our office?
Yes. Team sessions include a portable lighting and backdrop setup at one downtown Chicago office. We will confirm a suitable space, access, timing, and your preferred look in advance. Use the team calculator for 3 to 30 people; larger groups need a custom quote.
